Kick-Ass 2 Close to Reuniting the Whole Gang

The last two words on Kick-Ass 2 were 1) it's happening and, 2) if Chloë Moretz signs on, there's a bigger part for her. Now Deadline's reporting that despite none of the stars having sequel options, lead Aaron Johnson is "nearly done with his deal," Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are close, and Nicolas Cage could have at least a cameo. There are "several" other major roles for new characters, too, so, yay.

Undead enthusiast Chloe Moretz is considering a switch from vampires to zombies, according to Variety. She's in talks for Maggie, a 2011 Black List script about a father-daughter relationship in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. (Spoiler: One of them develops a taste for brains.) Also, if anyone is sitting on a script about a mummy uprising, Chloe seems like the girl to send it to.

Kick-Ass 2 is Moving Forward at Universal

Universal Pictures is in talks with Matthew Vaughn to develop a sequel to Kick-Ass, the adaptation of the Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. comic which earned $96.2 million worldwide on a budget of $30 million in 2010, says Heat Vision.

Lionsgate distributed the first film, which was directed, produced and self-financed by Vaughn. He is producing the sequel and has picked Never Back Down helmer Jeff Wadlow to direct the sequel.
