Rupert Wyatt and Mark Wahlberg May Make Bet on ‘Gambler’ Remake

Rupert Wyatt is in negotiations to direct a remake of the 1974 pic “The Gambler” for Paramount, with Mark Wahlberg coming on to star.

They would replace Todd Phillips and Leonardo DiCaprio, who was attached to direct the film but due to the film’s long development fell off the project. Leonardo DiCaprio was also once attached to the project but sources say he is also no longer involved.

It is still very early on in the deal-making process and Wyatt does still have an option on an untitled film at Fox that he may still take but as of now negotiations are under way.

Mark Wahlberg Says He’ll Appear on the Oscars with Ted; Confirms Ted 2 Script Is in Development

Since Seth MacFarlane is hosting this year’s Oscars, it’s not much of a surprise that his Ted co-star Mark Wahlberg will be making an appearance alongside the foul-mouthed teddy bear. Ted was one of the biggest hits of 2012, and it would almost be a letdown to not see the duo show up in some capacity. Wahlberg confirmed the appearance on the talk show Anderson Live, and I’m curious to see if they’ll be presenting an award, or if it will just be a comic bit. Either way, this year’s ceremony is shaping up to be pretty entertaining with MacFarlane as the host.
