Sony Takes Worldwide Rights To Angry Birds Movie, Will Release It In 2016

CULVER CITY, Calif., May 15, 2013 – Sony Pictures Entertainment has won the exclusive worldwide distribution rights to the eagerly anticipated Angry Birds animated film, making it one of the most high-profile deals of the year. The 3D film is being developed, produced, and financed by Rovio Entertainment and will be released worldwide by Sony Pictures on July 1, 2016. Several major studios pursued the global film rights in recent weeks, with Sony Pictures Entertainment emerging as the winner.

Scarlett Johansson Joins Robert Downey Jr. in Jon Favreau’s 'Chef'

The Iron Man 2 gang is getting back together for what will hopefully be a better movie than Iron Man 2. Variety is reporting that Scarlett Johansson will reunite with Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau for Favreau’s indie film, Chef. The story centers on a man (Favreau) who loses his chef job and starts up a food truck to reclaim his artistic promise and reclaiming his estranged family. As we previously reported, the film will have a strong supporting cast with Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo, and Bobby Cannavale on board to co-star.

Attention Citizens Of Detroit: Your Giant Robocop Statue Is Almost Done

Seemingly forever ago (around two years in Internet time) some guy tweeted a message to the Mayor of Detroit asking why the city didn't have a statue of Robocop. Back then people tweeting stupid questions to famous and/or important people was still kind of a novel thing, so the Internet latched onto the idea and decided to make a Detroit Robocop statue a reality. A Kickstarter went up, over $65,000 was raised and we haven't heard much since.

Arnold Schwarzenegger To Star In 'Toxic Avenger' Remake

At 65 years old, you might think that Arnold Schwarzenegger might want to look to other things to do besides clinging to the fading glory of his action hero past. No one cared about "The Last Stand," and just like every other Expendable, audiences only want to see those old dudes team up, not on their own (theaters were pretty much empty for Sylvester Stallone's "Bullet To The Head").
