Paramount boots 'G.I. Joe' to 2013
Paramount is making a last-minute move to its summer schedule by pushing back "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" from June 29 to March 29, 2013, to give the studio time to convert the pic to 3D.
The studio said the drastic move was motivated by focus groups in which auds questioned why the film wasn't in stereo. The multi-dimensional presentation also will give "G.I. Joe" added oomph overseas.
According to Par, several 3D companies approached Par to convert the film for a rate not to exceed $10 million in return for a take of the 3D upside. Pic cost a reported $125 million.
