American Reunion Review
Movie:
American Reunion Not my slice of pie. There is a fine line between funny and obnoxious. This movie constantly crisscrossed that line. The main characters were in there early 30s however the target audience for this film is male and 30 or younger. This movie totally objectified women. I gave this movie one star because behind all the nonsense there were some valid messages to be taken away regarding friends and family.

I'm an 18 year old girl and I loved it. I didnt find it obnoxious or that it objectified women what soi ever.
This is not the first film from this series. You must be on another planet to not know what will be going on in the flick, regardless of which part it is. If you are so put off from the theme and film, stay home and let someone else use the passes to just go watch it and have fun. Don't be such a killjoy.
By this time you know what you're going into with this kind of movie. Why go? Leave the tix to someone else that'll enjoy the movie.
I can understand why this would not be a film for everyone. To me this film is about 5 guys who are trying to live their lives in their 30's. When they go back for their reunion they are reminded of how things were in high school. The relationships, the temptations, dealing with parents, and realizing that it is time to move on with your life is an excellent message. The comedy of course is just like the first film and in that sense it takes the audience who've been there from the beginning can watch it and remember why they thought it was so funny in the first place. I laughed out loud so many times, so did my wife. We saw the original when we were in college while we were dating back in '99. Thirteen years later we are in our 30's and are now parents, so we could relate to a lot of this film. I respect your opinion, but let me ask, if you saw the original film when you were in your teens would you think it was funny? If not, then you are correct, this film is not your slice of pie.
Agree, definitely reviewed this flick based on my expectations of an American Pie movie. I didn't go in expecting anything else so was not disappointed and actually was pleasantly surprised since most sequels just get worse and worse, this one was better. Objectification? Oh come on, American Pie movies objectify everyone...get over it or don't go next time. Just because you got preview tix doesn't mean you should go if you KNOW ahead of time you hate this type of movie does it? JMHO.
It was pretty much what I expected. Not my normal type of comedy tha I see. Yet, I honestly laughed quite a bit and anyone who say this and did not laught at all has to have no sense of humor. It was predictible but the acting was good and consistant. I'd say 2 1/2 stars
I agree with everyone else I appreciate you trying to be Siskel and Ebert but ummm, What the hell else did you expect from American Pie? and besides it is a COMEDY ha ha ha relax a little.
looks like you should take a hint from the movie and party a little and maybe even get laid you are WAY too uptight
I would have to agree with the other replies on this thread. The American Pie series has always been obnoxious and over the top, that's the fun of it. At least this film took it back to the comedy that made the original famous. The other installments were getting less funny and more cheesy with every film. I think this was a great way to reboot the franchise or at least send it out on a high note.
I don't know what movie you actually sat through, but the target audience of this movie are the people who were old enough to see the first one. And what women were objectified? Oz's trashy slut of a girlfriend, Finches mom, the bosses girlfriend? Two of the three were done so by Stifler, who by the way is the epitome of male pig! Sorry you didn't like it, but maybe you should have thought about that before walking into a theater to see an American Pie movie!
If you have seen any of the other American Pie movies, you would have known that this movie was exactly as to be expected. Not sure how "old" you are but as a 38 year old married woman with children, this struck me as what it should be "entertainment". Men were objectified as much if not more than the women and at the end of the day it's a movie, not real life. Live a little.
Exactly! This is exactly what anyone seeing the movie should expect, especially if they have seen the previous ones. Delivered as it was supposed to very well!
Hey this is a great sequel to the other movies...See what happens when you grow up and then come home for a get together with old friends. Raunchy at times but adult and bathroom humor always a winner!
Two words: American Pie
You were expecting a more distinguished film?
I know where you coming but think about it. a bit more. in all the only woman really objectified in the movie was OZ's California slut girlfriend.
I loved it..... It went along with the rest of the American Pie Collection....
It's American Pie. IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE OBNOXIOUS. Hilarious was just the bonus
After several previous installations of this film, what exactly were your expectations going in? Climb off your high horse Prudence, and instead suspend belief and enjoy the crazy. Fun film, but apparently not for everyone. Box office will be the proof.
