Movie:
Battleship

This movie was awesome, if you like shitty movies. The saving grace was the fact that I was sitting in an audience of 20-somethings who were energized for the thing...

Various issues I had with this movie:
- Direct references to current-day politics date the movie

- Attempts at realism fall far short. For example:
-- ships being destroyed by satellite when entering earth's orbit but not when landing in the water (at the speed they landed the impact would feel harder than concrete)
-- alien ships skipping on the water (though they probably flew to get to outerspace) - don't get me started on the energy requirements to leave the water only to plop back down... *sigh*
-- inability for US ships to see things via radar, lazer, infrared, whatever - human tech isn't that fail
-- inability for ALIEN ships to not see US ships in the dark? alien technology fail
-- ALIENS have the firepower to blow everything up from the get-go but don't because some stupid "art of war" quote that probably doesn't even apply. If you're really going to TAKE OVER THE WORLD why don't you just park your warship(s) in orbit and bombard us from there. If you're really going to come down to the surface and then not kill us because (oh look their guns are pointed the OTHER WAY) you need to PHONE HOME - just BLOW SHIT UP!!!

- Movie tropes like "aliens want to kill us, they have advanced technology but I defeated them with a retired, canabalized WW2 destroyer!" are enjoyable for a ... heh lolz, what was I saying?

- The blatant Military / Navy propaganda in this movie is sad. I support our troops, our retired veterans, and feel for the families of those who've suffered physically, and this movie doesn't help them. If you're going to do this right show the military rallying the troops and then through concerted, group, international effort blowing the F-ERs back to where they came from! (And make us want it because the ALIENS are in our hood rapin' our mens, womens, and childrens yo.)

I know this is "low-budget" and that you grossed 200k overseas before releasing this 80-100k movie in the US, but you can do better hollywood.

Seriously.
