It is 1941 and the world is in the throes of war. Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) wants to do his part and join America's armed forces, but the military rejects him because of his small stature. Finally, Steve gets his chance when he is accepted into an experimental program that turns him into a supersoldier called Capt. America. Joining forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), Capt. America leads the fight against the Nazi-backed HYDRA organization.

The leader of the Avengers, Captain America is one of the most respected heroes. Once when Cap's shield was broken, or when he quit his job (it's hard to keep track), there came a need for one of the people who called themselves Captain America (or maybe it was US Agent) to have a shield when none existed. S.H.I.E.L.D created one that was, essentially, a wrist-based force field.
