Not perfect but historical none the less. Where else are the youth hearing this story. Not at school and unfortuntately, not at home. Could it have been developed more, yes, but I enjoyed the movie both times that I saw it. It was great that several senior citizens were in the audience. You rarely see them out in mass for a movie. I give it a strong thumbs up. Someone has to tell our stories. I applaud the movie. Red Tails..... we fight, we fight, we fight!
I enjoyed it. It wasn't perfect, but my expectations are so low nowadays. I wasn't disappointed at parts that were slow or moments where dialogue/acting could have been better. Yes, those things do matter, but in the overall rating of the movie I would still give it a 6.5-7. Those few bad moments weren't so horrible as to take away from the entire movie. I still had a good time. I still felt a part of a story. I am happy that I went. No buyer's remorse here. I will buy it on DVD.
I think that I must be the only one that did not think this movie was very good. I thought overall the acting and writing were awful. I also believe that whoever wrote the movie just made caricatures of the Tuskegee airmen. I also think that it did not go into the history and legacy of these remarkable men. I think that it could have been done better and paid more justice to the men of that time. I think that maybe it should have started with them training to become airman at the Tuskegee Air Field, and shown more of their struggles to be accepted. Also. the movie should have delved more into the history of the characters (why did one drink a lot, why did the other have anger management issues, why did one have a strong belief in God). I just think it could have been better
If you have not seen this movie yet.. I am so sorry.. It was great. The theater was full. I loved the action but it was nice to see african americas on screen that make it all the way though the move and have roles that reflect strong character and great values. The airmen and airwomen during this era are give my thanks for with out their struggle and determination some us would not be able to do what we enjoy today..
