When I first saw the previews to this movie I couldn't wait to see it, then I recieved free advanced screening tickets through GimmieFreebies.com I waited and line sat down and watched what I think was one of the best comedies of the year. Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman were hilarious in this surprisingly dirty comedy. I wouldn't advise anyone take their children to see this movie but if your looking for something to do and you want to laugh for a couple hours go and spend the money to see this movie.
“The Change-up” – 4 out of 5 RedZone Review Stars
Able to see the advance screening of “The Change-up” courtesy of Richmond.com and Q94 @ Regal Cinemas Short Pump. The film was very entertaining producing big laughs from the preview audience throughout. What was a bit different versus some other recent comedies, the pacing was great from beginning to end. Jason Bateman plays Dave Lockwood, a family man with wife and 3 kids who has been friends with Mitch Planko played by Ryan Reynolds. Mitch doesn’t have any of the typical adult responsibilities which Dave believes are a weight around his neck. In a “Freaky Friday” type of event, Bateman and Reynolds switch bodies and the fun begins with each one fulfilling the other one’s life. Leslie Mann plays Bateman’s wife and is GREAT in that role. One of the funniest scenes is when Reynolds in Bateman’s body has to get up @ 3am to take care of the twin children – this is a classic scene that had the crowd roaring with belly-laughs. This is a great date-night movie – well worth a full-price admission ticket.
