The Feast of All Saints
In 1822, Philippe Ferronaire (Peter Gallagher) marries a white woman and settles down as a plantation owner in New Orleans. Unhappy with his pragmatic marriage, Philippe has an affair with Cecile Ste. Marie (Gloria Reuben), a light-skinned Haitian woman who bears three of his children. Their son, Marcel (Robert Ri'chard), receives a European education but cannot pass for white, traveling between old Europe and the pre--Civil War South while coming to terms with his racial identity.
