News
It all begins in the steamy rural backwater of Moat County, Florida, where things have been done the same way for decades, yet change is bubbling beneath the surface. Boyish Jack Jansen (Efron), son of the local newspaper publisher, has just returned home after being kicked out of college, only to take the lowly job of paperboy. But that too changes when his idolized journalist brother Ward (McConaughey) comes to town from Miami on the trail of a story that could make his career.

I find it disappointing that society and critics often celebrate films of this genre, like being white trash and wallowing in it is admirable and worthy of exploration. It’s not. I cannot begin to imagine why anyone made this trashy, shoddy, debased film. I walked out of the theater when the peeing on the jelly fish stings started. I wanted to sniff something to clear the nastiness left in my head.
I'm sorry; I know I'm criticizing someone's baby here, and I really do apologize to the filmmakers and actors. John Cusack’s performance was really intriguing and probably the best part of the film. I could not bear to stay for it all.
Overall: not in theater, not on DVD, not online, not even for free when you’ve got the flu and nothing else to do.
Soooooooo. Nicole Kidman pees on Zac Efron's character in this movie because of a jellyfish sting. Who in your life would you do that to?
