Release Date: Special midnight shows Tuesday, July 14. Regular engagement starts Wednesday, July 15.

Studio: Warner Bros.

Synopsis: Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simpering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

MPAA Rating: THIS FILM IS RATED PG FOR ADULT LANGUAGE, ADULT SITUATIONS, VIOLENCE.

I loved the movie itself. Although the book is by far more enjoyable, the movie had to include all of the main points. And it did. The action was great but the down parts just seemed long and slow. The ending was not what I expected, and I didn't like it really. I just feel there was way too many details and parts missing.

I thought that the movie was very good! I really liked the way they tried to fit as much of the book in as possible. However, a few scenes were added for blockbuster effect that turned many die-hard book geeks (like me) off. Overall I was very happy with the movie and have seen it multiple times since. Can't wait for the final two movies.

Awesome I love the series and I feel like things are really happening in the story now. It's setting up for a great finale.

1startist 07.29.09 Had a little bit more modern and adult oriented theming and comments than the series really needed I mean what happened to the fantasy? Somehow it got swallowed up with the booze they were consuming and the developing relationships among the characters was only a little shallow and thrown across the top of the story. But none the less I still was entertained with the performance...more

Harry Potter isn't really my thing, but my mom is a huge fan so the screener was a great gift. I didn't have any problem figuring out the mythos of the story, and I enjoyed it. The special effects looked good, but I would have liked to have seen more puppets (like in the Dark Crystal) in a movie like this. It is great to see a movie series where you can see the actors grow up, and all the actors w...more

Didn't read as a linear story, a little to chunky. Much improved special effects from previous films. Not enough sense of an impending war. HATED the attack on the burrow scene. Was not necessary and seemed less shocking / dangerous than opening scenes from the book. More of the general attack scenes would have been better. Needed the last war scene from the book to give it that epic feeling, IMO....more

Of course I loved the movie; I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan! I was a little disappointed with some parts of the story (I felt that some key parts from the book were missing), and I felt that the last movie was better. I'll be expecting a lot more from the next movie (I'll expect it to be more true to the book, since it will be in two parts).

* kinda disappointed at broadbent’s portrayal of slughorn. his weakness for brown-nosers really explained why he would divulge such harmful information to riddle, and that wasn’t properly handled in the movie. however, i did like how movie slughorn seemed honestly ashamed for contributing to voldemort’s rise to power.
* very VERY disappointed that the movie didn’t have dumbledore casting a...more

I hated the addition of the burning of the Burrow, which never happened in the book. I wish it had not been a part of the film and that more of the fight on the astronomy tower had been shown instead. Otherwise, the movie was entertaining and very funny. Tom Felton was spectacular. Dan Radcliffe was especially funny in the Felix Felicis scene.

The movie left our a few key things from the book that lead into the next story, but it was still a pretty good movie.

I disliked the end of the movie. They cut out the entire battle that took place at the end of the book.

The only half-blooded prince is Snape and you don't find out until the end. Otherwise it was great action. It made me want to believe in Magic.

LIKED IT ALOT BUT MISSED SOME OF THE THINGS THAT MAKE ALL THE MOVIES TIE TOGETHER. SOME OF THE SPECIAL EFFECTS FROM THE OLDER MOVIES, LIKE HIS OWL, INVISIBLE CAP, MORE OF THE PICTURES OF THE WALLS MOVING WITHIN THE FRAMES ALONG THE MOVING STAIRCASES & CLASSROOMS ANTICS!!!!! I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT MOVIE & WILL SEE THIS ONE AGAIN!!!!
THANK YOU EVEN THOUGH MY PASSES GOT MESSED UP WHEN THEY P...more

While I have read all the books and knew the end , this movie is definetly a transition. The tone is darker and even the scenes, and clothes are darker.I felt there could have been more with the death of Dumbledore, but that may be in the next movie , with the funeral.I look forward to the next film, altho I wish it could go on forever.
