Great performance on everyone's part with the exception of Daniel Day-Lewis. His character was supposed to be lovable or least likable, but I never got that feeling from his performance. The cinemaphotography was outstanding, as was the score...but something was missing...there wasn't that glue that unites everything into a great movie.

I love all of the actors in it (except Kate Hudson, who was completely unnecessary), but considering they brought this musical to film, I was sorely disappointed. Considering all the star-power they had, it was more like cameo appearances for all the wonderful women...sing and they're gone. On Broadway, actors and sets are limited to live performances, but on film, they could've had better effects...more

Fun movie, but needed more of a plot line to attract men.

Movie was fantastic! Excellent performances by Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson and Marian Cotillard. My favorite scenes included Daniel Day Lewis with Penelope Cruz ...great chemistry and humorous! Only negative was that I felt that Nicole Kidman's performance was lack-luster and the movie was a tad too long. However, overall, movie was fantastic!!!

They changed the story and the direction ruined the story telling. Very dissapointing for someone who knows the theater piece

OK...very similar style to Chicago. I should say that I am not in love with Marshal's stylistic choices for converting musicals to movies. Daniel Day-Lewis pulls of a mesmerizing performance and will likely win awards for this one. He has such unreal range in what he can do as an actor. The same goes for Colliard, Judi Dench, and Penelope Cruz. Kate Hudson and some others are miscast.

I LOVED Kate Hudson's American scene with her hair flinging dance moves!

I absolutely loved "Nine" - Rob Marshall amazes yet again! The movie was done beautifully with an all-star cast and spectacular performances to boot. A must see!

It was kind of disjointed. It was more like a talent show where each woman sang her song and got off.

This movie could've been a work or art - a masterpiece. It is not. Love everyone involved in front and behind the cameras, but it didnt work for me. All performances were great, but the characters were underwritten. The film fell apart for me after 'My Husband Makes Movies". Songs felt unecessary after that. I missed "Only With You", wish it was'nt cut. The song "Nine" should've been sung by adult...more

Very interesting movie. If you loved movies like Moulin Rouge you will like this one. The only thing that made me a little crazy was Daniel Day Lewis' accent otherwise the dance/music scenes were great.

overall i enjoyed the movie, the music scenes were phenomenal i honestly had the urge of getting up and applaud after every performance. this movie definitely show a different new way to view certain actresses, penelope cruz was very sexy and i don't recall ever hearing her singing, same case for kate hudson. Fergie's performance makes me wanna take her seriously as a performer. i like fellini ...more

While I believe people and critics will be mixed on this it is a very sold film. The story is limited (as in most musicals due to the large amount of time spent in song), however that's not a bad thing. The awkward part of the film is that all the female characters are fully drawn out characters with minimal screen time. Each character is basically given one song and possibly part of a second whic...more

I actually would give this 3 1/2 stars. I loved the musical numbers. I do not like that in some of the numbers the songs were btoken up by dialog. I also think the Lead character was intended to to be quite so pathetic. He was to be more eccentric and complex than actually distraught. Still it was very entertaining and beautifully sung and choreograhped.

The film was Chicago meets Europe in a very sexy and captivating way. Marion Cotillard's raw and intense energy as well as the other female leads made the film claw its way to picture of the year, hopefully. I was surprised to hear how well Nicole and Kate performed their solos, and who knew that Penelope could carry a tune? I cant wait to see the film again!

I thought there should be more of a story linking all the women.

Loved the movie. I wish they had ended with a reprise of the first song with all the members of the cast other than a fade out to the credits.
