I was frustrated throughout the movie by the sub-human manner of life the post-apocalyptic characters adopted. As the story goes, everything was destroyed by an unknown catastrophe. The characters have their health and strength. Rather than working to rebuild homes, replant fields, restock fuel for a fire place, etc., they choose to walk The Road. Along they way, they desperately seek canned food ...more

I'm sorry I'm just getting to this now. I rate the movie a 5. The acting was great and the scenery was searingly stark and bleak but at the end of the film you have a sense of hope when the child is embraced by a loving family trying to survive.

I think Viggo Mortensen's performance (as well as the child) is what made this movie so special. I'm glad it was toned down a bit from the book (no scenes with roasted babies, for example) and the terror was mostly alluded to as opposed to shown explicitly.

I truly enjoyed how faithful the movie was to the book. Fabulous acting, good adapted screenplay.

Vigo Mortensen was unbelievable. He completely transformed himself to fit this character and if he doesn't get every acting award out there it would be a true shame. Very realistic, kept very close to the story line of the book as well. The best apocalyptic movie I've seen.

I really enjoyed the pivotal moment where The Man passed himself onto his son, thereby losing his humanity when stripping the beach robber naked and taking his clothes and possessions.

Seriously grim, but excellent. If you're tired of all those happy-go-lucky "the apocalypse is no big deal" films, check this one out for a bracing dose of more-likely-to-be-reality.

This is one of the most depressing and intensely sad movies I have ever seen. It is haunting, and though it was extremely good and well worth it, I just don't think I can see it again.

Powerful film, but the ending doesn't seem entirely in keeping with the rest of the film.

Great photography. Liked the emphasis on love and carrying the flame. Pretty bleak.

I hated the entire movie! The content was aweful. There were so many missing pieces. The film made no logical sense in terms of scientific sense. For instance if there was no vegetation, no animals and minimal sunlight due to some catastophic event then there would be no people! The ecosystem is so balanced that human beings depend on it. Therefore the whole notion of cannibalism is ridiculous. ...more

The entire movie was very heavy. I'm not sure I will ever use it as a springboard for discussion in my church.

Thanks for the free screening. I liked the movie and thought it generally captured the ethos of the book. No particular scenes come to mind.

It was not the movie the trailers lead you to expect. It was much more ethereal and thoughtful than it was a thriller.

very well shot, very well acted and, though i haven't read the book, i understand the screenplay was very well adapted. it can at times be a difficult movie to watch just because it's so bleak but it definitely makes you think, and is definitely the type of movie that sparks a discussion after viewing

It is making me think about what happens when people lose hope.

Obviously it was essential to the story, but the pacing got to be too long sometimes.

This story of a cataclysmic event brought to the screen was impressive. Viggo Mortensen and the young actor were awesome. Beautiful story of father and son; how the father did everything possible to keep his son safe, finding food and shelter on the road to the coast kept me engaged. The roads, bridges, trees, etc were impressive if CGI; also the film was grey in tone which really captured the d...more

I enjoyed this adaptation, although I felt the religious undertones were a little heavy handed.

A provocative film, but depressing throughout. The scenes related to cannabalism were particularly disturbing. The movie was like having a vivid nightmare.

BLEAK, hopeless and long.

This is a film in search of an audience (good luck with that).

There were scenes that were unpleasant, but I don't think any that were not necessary to tell the story.
