Release Date: Feb 19, 2010

Studio: Paramount Pictures

Synopsis: Based on the novel "Shutter Island" by Dennis Lehane. An atmospheric psychological thriller set in a 1950s asylum for the criminally insane. It's 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Shutter Island's Ashecliffe Hospital. He'd been gunning for an assignment on the island for reasons of his own -- but before long he wonders whether he hasn't been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy's code-breaking skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals "escape" in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues proliferate, Teddy begins to doubt everything -- his memory, his partner, even his own sanity.

MPAA Rating: THIS FILM IS RATED R FOR ADULT LANGUAGE, NUDITY, VIOLENCE.

I was very entertained my this movie. Although some say they were totally disappointed by the ending I really did not see it coming. I loved the old school horror movie score and the paranoid feeling of "everyone is out to get me". Great work again from Leo and Marty.

Overall, I liked it. My kind of movie. I honestly expected more of a horror flick. It turned out to be a psychological thriller. I like that you're left guessing. However, about 2/3 of the way through the movie, I caught on to what was going on...I don't know if I was supposed to or not.

The ending was pretty mind blowing. The movie had me guessing until the very end. And even then I'm still not sure what he decided to do at the end of the movie.

During the beginning i didn't think i liked it because of what seemed to be random violence but i think the ending really brought everything together. Its not an oscar worthy movie but i would definatly recommend seeing it at some point.

The Movie was interesting but complex. At times it moved a little slow and I didn't care for the way it ended. I would rate it at 3 stars.

Shutter Island is a movie you have to participate in- you have to be trying to figure out what's real and what's not. Who's
the good guy and who's the bad guy. Would a U S Marshall in
1954 be doing things like this?? What is the law of 4 and who is # 67?? If you don't follow along, you could be easily over whelmed with this movie and wind up not liking it as much as I did (I didn't even guess the...more

After Dicaprio's character goes into his first migraine on Shutter Island and lays down for a nap in the patient bedroom. The structure of that dream sequence was completely captivating. I literally felt drawn in to the scene.

I felt that their attempt at a psychological thriller was purely laughable. Everything was far too predictable and didn't really leave much for the audience to wonder about or question. Mark Ruffalo's acting was dry and monotone, Leonardo DiCaprio did the ONLY accent he can actually do fairly well, but when it comes to actually playing a character that has depth like this (where he basically has t...more

Great/solid movie. I enjoyed every bit of it, and I loved how it left me second-guessing myself on where the story was going around every turn.
