I thought this was a really good movie. Best for the 7-13 yr old range. My kids were a little young to understand it.

The film was slowly paced. I thought it was pretty good, and liked Spike Jonze's attempt, but I don't think he hit the mark. Max's behavior was abhorrent at times, which is understandable because he's a kid, but he wasn't an extremely likable character. Plus his mother's reaction when he came home (giving him cake) was stupid. They should have just ended it when they looked at each other.

Good movie. Just like the book I read when I was younger. I like the part when everyone is having a good time. It makes my imagination go wild too.

I felt the move was pushed to be good and in doing so the move felt strained to me. I felt like there was not any time to just feel good during the movie.

We were so disappointed! My family had been waiting for months for the movie to come out. We all loved this book, but the movie was a different story almost altogether. It was violent, mean and very sad. Definitely not the uplifting and happy ending that we were expecting. We came away with an exhausted, unhappy vibe from the whole thing. Can't believe what a waste of time it was. So sad.

The time differences in comparison to reality as in travel to "Narnia" was handled nicely, and needing food upon return later that same evening. And it did bring a tear to my eye!

Too drawn out, Max too old, did not like modern day family drama thrown in.

This isn't an action-packed adventure story but rather a psychological drama--that happens to have monsters--about emotions and relationships. I rather think it's more appropriate for adults than for children, despite the age of the main character.

too dark to be a kids movie. i saw the plot, but the whole movie was dark and about destruction, not positive reinforcement like in the book.
