Well, the trick here is that The Wachowskis ambitious adaptation of David Mitchell's "Cloud Atlas" was actually financed independently from a number of production companies worldwide, giving the helmers, who teamed up with Tom Tykwer, the creative space to tell their tale.

Featuring a sprawling cast that includes Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy and more with various actors taking wild, unexpected, multiple roles -- Grant will rape and kill; Berry plays a 1930s Jewish woman; Sarandon is an indian man -- no matter how it turns out, it will certainly be memorable.
