New Trailer For Silver Linings Playbook Turns Up The Crazy
Former indie ingénue Jennifer Lawrence started off 2012 strong, ably fronting the box office behemoth The Hunger Games and proving she has the kind of broad appeal and acting chops to be a mainstream leading lady. But before Hollywood attempts to pigeonhole her as a YA-only performer, she's taking to the screen in a more mature role in David O. Russell's upcoming dark comedy The Silver Linings Playbook, where she plays a young widow opposite Bradley Cooper's unstable protagonist, whose struggling to get his life in order after his wife's infidelity led to his mental breakdown.
The feel-good rom-com tone of the first trailer earned the feature some early scorn, as some suspected O. Russell was following up his Academy Award-winning drama The Fighter with something light and unworthy of his talents. However, when Silver Linings Playbook made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, the buzz was immediate and overwhelmingly positive.
