Sacha Baron Cohen sells spy spoof to Paramount
Sacha Baron Cohen has poked at a variety of things throughout his career -- and now he is ready to have a little fun with Hollywood's favorite secret agent.
Baron Cohen and Phil Johnston have sold an untitled pitch to Paramount that follows a James Bond-like spy forced to go on the run with his long-lost brother, a moronic soccer hooligan. Studio couldn't comment on how much the pitch was acquired for, but sources say it was in the high six- to low seven-figure range.
Baron Cohen, who has a first-look deal with Par, will now get to work on the script with Johnston. While the spy is expected to bear a resemblance to 007, it won't be Bond -- those rights belong to Eion Productions and Danjaq. Given that Baron Cohen has starred in evey pic he's written, it's probable that the multi-hyphenate would play the loser brother.
