The Campaign: Will It Get You Laid?
"War has rules. Mud wrestling has rules. Politics has no rules." Ross Perot.
That is the quote that opens the film The Campaign and remains the theme throughout the entire feature. Will Ferrell stars as Cam Brady, a North Carolina congressman whose character combines the idiotic nature of George Bush with the bedroom activities of Bill Clinton.
Opposite of Will is Zach Galifianakis who plays Marty Huggins the fun loving simpleton who, because of his old-money father, ends up opposing Brady in an effort to bring "insourcing" to the district to alleviate expensive shipping costs from China.
I'm personally not a big fan of slapstick comedy, but I was really looking forward to this movie being both a Ferrell and Galifianakis fan, and I have to admit, the film doesn't disappoint. The two comedic powerhouses have electric energy together on film, and the casting of the supporting characters all around was equally brilliant. From both wives holding their own against their leading men, to even the Asian maid who was paid to talk like a "mammy" - the casting overall was sensational.
The pace of the jokes are fast and with any Ferrell movie always in your face, however one of the true highlights of the film was the fact that it was shot on the Universal back lot, home to the Back to the Future clock tower.
The Campaign has to be one of the best date movie to come out in years as both men and women will enjoy it, so it is a definite must see for date night this week.
This film has a 75% chance of getting you laid, but overall it's a great, great, first date movie. You'll both be laughing all the way through and if the slow-motion capture of the baby punching doesn't tickle her womb, check your date's pulse. She might be dead.

I doubt the film will get me laid being that I came out of the film enjoying it without a woman on my arm. 'The Campaign's doing a lot better in reviews than 'The Bourne Legacy', according to Rotten Tomatoes, earlier today. That film should also have the men get with a few lucky ladies but there's a chance that they might fall for Jeremy Renner instead.
