Kerry Washington Lands ‘Django Unchained’ Lead

Kerry Washington has won the role of Broomhilda in Django Unchained. Director Quentin Tarantino made his choice and The Weinstein Company began exclusive negotiations with her CAA reps last night. She’ll play the long-suffering slave wife of Django (Jamie Foxx), who is freed by a bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) and taught the tricks of that trade. Django’s real desire is to be reunited with his wife, who winds up in a variety of unsavory places and whose travails drive the plot. It leads to a confrontation in Candyland, a ranch owned by the notorious Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).

Kurt Russell In Talks To Replace Kevin Costner In Tarantino's Django Unchained

Quentin Tarantino has always been a big fan of using the same actors over and over again. Samuel L. Jackson has been in Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vol. 2 and Inglourious Basterds. Uma Thurman starred in Pulp Fiction and both Kill Bill movies. Hell, even Steve Buscemi came back after Reservoir Dogs to play Buddy Holly the Waiter in Tarantino's 1994 modern classic. The filmmaker has already started bringing back actors for Django Unchained as well.

Kevin Costner Will Train Fighting Slaves In Tarantino's Django Unchained

Whenever there’s a Western being made somewhere in Hollywood, it’s a sure bet that Kevin Costner wants to be in it. He’s responsible for one of the best westerns of the past decade in Open Range and his obsession with the genre is all but legendary. So maybe we shouldn’t be surprised to learn that he’s found his way into Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Spaghetti Western, Django Unchained.

Kevin Costner Joining Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

Quentin Tarantino never has trouble putting together good casts for his films, but his Sergio Leone-style Spaghetti Western Django Unchained is turning out to be quite something. Kevin Costner is in negotiations to join a cast that is headed by Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson and Leonardo DiCaprio. Costner is in talks to play Ace Woody, and it's a real surprise turn for an actor most associated with good guy roles. He's the sadistic trainer of the male fighting slaves who entertain the white patrons of Candyland as well as the female slaves who are forced to be prostitutes.

Jamie Foxx Confirmed for Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED

Earlier today, we reported on the tweet rumor that Jamie Foxx had landed the title role in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Django Unchained. We now have confirmation on the matter as Variety reports that Foxx will indeed star in the pic alongside Leonard DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, and most likely Samuel L. Jackson as well. As has been well documented, Tarantino originally offered the surefire controversial part to Will Smith. After Smith passed, the writer/director met with Idris Elba, Terrence Howard, and Chris Tucker before offering the gig to Foxx.

'Django Unchained': Quentin Tarantino's Spaghetti Western Script Finished

Quentin Tarantino is coming back home to America -- and entering one of the darkest times in its history -- for his next major film.

After taking on Nazi Germany with the Brad Pitt-led band of "Inglourious Basterds," WME, Tarantino's agency, confirmed that he's finished writing the script for "Django Unchained," a Spaghetti Western that, according to Tarantino Archives (via Indiewire), will pay homage to Italian director Sergio Corbucci's original "Django" and Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike's "Sukiyaki Western Django."
